A Year in Review

As Easter approaches I take myself back to one year ago when I was just starting to receive donations for the second annual Egg My House fundraiser. Texts, emails, phone calls and social media inquiries were coming in as early as January asking if I was going to be hosting Egg My House again. Without pause I responded, "of course!"

This fundraiser was started by the desire to help one family and has grown into a fundraiser to help all Long Island residents. In the last year Service Brigade was able to donate over $4,000 to individuals and families that have suffered from terminal illness, the loss of a parent/spouse, a fire to their home, and other traumatic events.

The amount of support from our local communities has been humbling and overwhelming. The first year I put this fundraiser together I had almost 200 houses sign up to be egged and over 20 volunteers acting as my "bunnies" in the night. Kings Park students from grades 3-12 alongside Kings Park families helped to fill over 7,000 eggs.

Last year Service Brigade egged over 300 houses for our first fundraiser as an official not-for-profit with the help of 30 bunnies. My goal for this years Egg My House is to have 500 houses register! The more homes we reach, the more families we can reach. The flyer will be posted soon and registration will open March 15th. Happy Hunting!
